At Paws in the City, statistics take a back seat to helping animals that are in dire need. Many animal rescue groups focus on purebreds, or even a specific breed, or on any number of myths regarding adoptability. We never have and never will. We know too many families who couldn’t imagine life without their beloved “unadoptable” pet for us to believe that superficial rules of thumb are the key to adoptability. We know too many families that adore their mutt as much as their purebred to believe that heritage is the key to adoptability. The number one reason that most people get pets is companionship - and good companionship comes in all colors and sizes, in purebreds and mixed breeds.
We won’t turn away a lovable animal in need because it’s not the chic color of the day or not the most popular size. If training will help a dog be a good companion, we’ll provide training and, just as importantly, a compatible foster home to acclimate the dog into a new lifestyle. At Paws, a good pet is a good pet, and we’ll do whatever is needed get them all adopted into loving homes.
